'Now is not the time' was painted just after coming out of lockdown and inspired by a medieval forest near where I live in Cornwall.
At the time, we were still restricted in how far we could travel and when we could go out. Part of the riverbank had broken away, and to me looked like a ship about to set sail, complete with a mast yet still tethered to the bank by its roots.
It captures how I felt at the time- on the verge of freedom, but not quite there yet.
